Keio University FinTEK Center and IGS to jointly develop a blockchain-based platform for managing students’ personal information with the support of Mitsubishi UFJ-Bank, SOMPO Holdings and Sumitomo Life Insurance

The FinTEK Center (located in Keio University, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, Director: Teruo Nakatsuma) and Institution for a Global Society (headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo – Masahiro Fukuhara, CEO – hereinafter referred to as IGS) have launched the STAR Project (STAR stands for “Secure Transmission And Recording”), a joint research project to develop a system to manage and utilize personal information using blockchain.

STAR Project is a three-year research project supported by corporate businesses under the theme of “putting students’ personal information back into their own hands”.

The main objectives of the project are:
(1) To ensure safety and transparency in the provision of students’ personal information
(2) Research on strategies for using personal information to benefit both students and companies
(3) Improve the accuracy of matching students and companies.
